Within the past fifty years, Hollywood’s elite have not only produced quality film, television, and musical entertainment; they have also become the mouth piece for various important charitable organizations. While many celebs whine about not having any privacy, many of them have no problem tending to the needs of civilization and raising money for those who need it while getting a little tax break along the way. While we who adore various celebs, sport stars, television stars want to believe they all want what’s best for the world, many of these stars only use charities as publicity stunts. This is sad because so many charities need help not just more hype. But before you think all celebrities do this, some are genuinely concerned for their favorite organizations.
Take Bono and the group U2. He has been actively campaigning for the needs of the continent of Africa. He speaks out on the need for clean drinking water, schools, even basic medical care. He feels that the richest nations of the world should do more than watch as Africa struggles to survive. Like Bonoe, Oprah has also been a major player in the the world of philanthropy. She went to the nation of South Africa and started a girls school since girls and women do not always get the best education. She has talked about many times on her talk show about the need to volunteer in the community, to give back to others. She has helped make literacy important through her book club. Even Bill Gates has been a major donor for charity. He has been working to excite student about math and science so that they will start new industries and create new jobs and new ideas. While some celebrities only give to charities to get some thing back, many celebs give to charities so that we can have a better world.
