Golden Globes 2011

The glamorous and yet casual awards that come only next to the Oscars in importance have just gone by. The awards which honor the best of Hollywood and the television brought out the best dressed celebrities. The awards took place in the entertainment capital of the world among the home of celebrities in Hollywood, Florida.

The red carpet stunned fashionistas from around the world with the exuberant display of stunning designs on the finest talents. There were a few celebrities with baby bumps. The bulk of the awards was taken by the movie based on Facebook, the Social Network. This movie took home the award for the best screenplay, best director and best drama. The King’s Speech was the other competitor to go against Facebook in all categories. It was a much better movie than Facebook, but the panel choose Social Network for its mass appeal. The King’s Speech actor won the award for the best actor for Colin Firth for a dramatic role. He is now the favorite to be picked up for the best actor in the Grammy’s.

In other awards The Kids Are All Right won for best comedic actor award for Annette Bening. The best actress award was bagged by Natalie Portman who won it for the exuberant and dark performance in Black Swan. She also took the same award in the dramatic actresses role too. Movies giving special mention at the award were the The Fighter which features Christina Bale in a supporting role. He plays the real life drug addict Dickie Ecklund which got a special honorary mention. A honorary Cecil B DeMille award was received by Robert De Niro. The best animated movies award was taken home by Toy Story sequel the Toy Story 3. The best foreign language trophy was taken home by In a Better World from Denmark.
